Abciximab is used to prevent the formation of blood clots during surgical procedures performed to treat blocked blood vessels. It may be used as an adjunct in procedures including balloon angioplasty, coronary stent placement, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), etc. This medicine is generally used with aspirin or heparin.
