Midazolam is used before medical procedures to cause drowsiness, relieve anxiety and prevent any memory of the event. It may also be used in the short-term treatment of insomnia and emergency treatment of seizures in some cases. This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of pulmonary disorders due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
