What is it prescribed for?

Hypertension
ACERTAN-P 50mg Tablet 2x10s is used in the treatment of Hypertension which is an increase in the blood pressure caused by genetic and/or environmental factors.

Diabetic Nephropathy
ACERTAN-P 50mg Tablet 2x10s is used in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy, a kidney disease which is a complication of diabetes mellitus.
When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to ACERTAN-P 50mg Tablet 2x10s or any other angiotensin receptor blocker.

Aliskiren
Coadministration of aliskiren and this medicine is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with diabetes and kidney diseases.

Hypotension
Symptomatic hypotension may occur in patients with volume depletion or patients who are treated with high-dose diuretics. It is advised to correct this condition before initiating treatment with this medicine or start the treatment at the lowest effective dose.

Hyperkalemia
This medicine may increase the potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Impaired liver function
ACERTAN-P 50mg Tablet 2x10s is not recommended for use in patients with severe hepatic failure.

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with congestive heart failure due to the increased risk of renal impairment and worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of heart function, blood pressure, and kidney function is recommended for such patients. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.`3
