How it works
Amotac tablet 10 mg 2×10’s works in synergism with the sympathetic system to regulate blood pressure and fluid and electrolyte homeostasis. Activation of this system upon stimulation by different factors, such as low blood pressure and nerve impulses, leads to increased release of norepinephrine (NE) from sympathetic nerve terminals and effects on the vascular growth, vasoconstriction, and salt retention in the kidneys

How to use Amotac tablet 10 mg 2×10’s
Compatibility: Stable in NS, D5W, D5NS.

Drug to Drug IV Compatibility: Acyclovir, amikacin, aztreonam, bumetanide, calcium gluconate, cephazolin, ceftriaxone, cimetidine, cisatracurium, dexamethasone, diltiazem, diphenhydramine, dobutamine, dopamine, epinephrine, esmolol, famotidine, fentanyl, fluconazole, furosemide, gentamicin, heparin, hydrocortisone, hydromorphone, imipenem, insulin regular, labetalol, levofloxacin, linezolid, lorazepam, magnesium sulphate, meropenem, methylprednisolone, metoclopramide, metronidazole, midazolam, milrinone, morphine, nitroglycerin, nitroprusside, norepinephrine, ondansetron, phenylephrine, piperacillin/tazobactam, propofol, ranitidine, tobramycin, vancomycin, vasopressin.
Drug to Drug IV Incompatibility: Amphotericin B, amphotericin B cholesteryl sulphate complex, cefepime, lansoprazole, phenytoin.
Stability: IV solution is stable for 24 hours at room temperature in D5W or NS.
Children: ORAL: Hypertension: Neonate, initially 10 mcg/kg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, increased as necessary up to 500 mcg/kg daily in 1-3 divided doses; 1 mth-6 yr & body-weight lt; 20 kg, initially 100 mcg/kg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, increased as necessary up to max 1 mg/kg daily in 1-2 divided doses.
Congestive heart failure, proteinuria in nephritis: 1 mth-12 yr, initially 100 mcg/kg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, increased as necessary up to max 1 mg/kg daily in 1-2 divided doses; 12-18 yr, initially 2.5 mg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, usual maintenance dose 10-20 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses, max 40 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses if body-weight over 50 kg.
Diabetic nephropathy: 12-18 yr, initially 2.5 mg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, usual maintenance dose 10-20 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses, max 40 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses if body-weight over 50 kg.
what are the adverse effects of Amotac tablet 10 mg 2×10’s?
Hypotension, renal failure angioedema, rash, headache, fatigue, dizziness, GI upset, cough, blurred vision, syncope, chest pain, arrhythmias, angina, tachycardia,dysgeusia, dyspnoea, hyperkalaemia, increased serum creatinine.Very rarely anaphylactoid reactions during desensitization and LDL apheresis. Withdraw promptly if jaundice or angioedema occurs.
What happens if I miss a dose of Amotac tablet 10 mg 2×10’s?
Adults: ORAL: Congestive heart failure: Initially 2.5 mg under close hospital supervision in conjunction with diuretics and/or digitalis. Usual maintenance dose 10-20 mg daily.
Hypertension: Initiate with 5 mg daily; In patients over 65 yr and those with renal impairment, initiate with 2.5 mg daily. Usual maintenance, 10-20 mg once daily; max 40 mg once daily. Adjunctive therapy, discontinue diuretic 2-3 days before initiating with 2.5 mg daily.
Adults: INJECTION: Hypertension: 2.5-5 mg/day then increase as required, usual therapeutic dose for hypertension is 10-40 mg/day in 1-2 divided doses.
Children: ORAL: Hypertension: 2-12 yr & body-weight gt; 20 kg, initially 100 mcg/kg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, increased as necessary up to max 1 mg/kg daily in 1-2 divided doses; 12-18 yr, initially 2.5 mg once daily, monitor blood pressure carefully for 1-2 hr, usual maintenance dose 10-20 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses, max 40 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses if body-weight over 50 kg.
