AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s is a sodium channel blocker.[34] It binds preferentially to voltage-gated sodium channels in their inactive conformation, which prevents repetitive and sustained firing of an action potential. This drug has effects on serotonin systems but the relevance to its antiseizure effects is uncertain. There is evidence that it is a serotonin releasing agent and possibly even a serotonin reuptake inhibitor.

• Epilepsy

  AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s is used in the treatment of Epilepsy which is a brain disorder that causes repeated seizures. Uncontrolled jerking movements and loss of consciousness are some of the symptoms of Epilepsy.

• Trigeminal Neuralgia

  AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s is used in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia which is a condition that affects the nerve that carries sensations from face to the brain characterized by chronic pain

When not to use?

• Suicidal thoughts

  Use of AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or depression. Therefore this medicine should be used with caution and prescription size should be limited in patients with depression or suicidal tendencies.

• Skin reactions

  AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s may cause severe skin reactions like stevens-johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Inform the doctor if any symptoms appear and discontinue the treatment as early as possible.

• Blood cell count

  AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s may cause agranulocytosis and aplastic anemia. Frequent monitoring of blood cell count is necessary.

• Withdrawal symptoms

  AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s should not be stopped immediately without informing the doctor due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms like convulsions, behavioral disorder, tremor, and anxiety. Gradual dose reduction should be made based on the outcomes in the patient.

• Impaired liver function

  AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s should be used with caution in the patients with mild to moderate liver injury. Lowest possible doses should be initiated and increase the dose based on the patient's response. This medicine is not recommended in the patients with severe liver injury.

• Impaired kidney function

  Use with caution in the patients with the kidney injury. Half of the usual starting dose should be administered if CrCl is less than 50 ml/min.

Take AZAPIN 200mg Tablet 5x6s with or without food. Do not take in larger amounts than advised. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor as it may cause seizures.
