How It Works
Bridion (generic name sugammadex) works by selectively binding to and inactivating the neuromuscular blocking agents rocuronium and vecuronium. These are used during surgery to relax muscles and facilitate intubation. By binding to these agents, Bridion rapidly reverses their effects, allowing for the restoration of normal neuromuscular function.
Side Effects

- Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
- Hypotension (low blood pressure)
Indications
- Reversal of neuromuscular blockade induced by rocuronium or vecuronium during surgery
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to sugammadex or any component of the formulation
- Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min)
