Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s treats hyperprolactinemia by decreasing the amount of prolactin in the body. It treats acromegaly by decreasing the amount of growth hormone in the body. It treats Parkinson's disease by stimulating the nerves that control movement.

Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s is used in the treatment of Hyperprolactinemia which is a condition characterized by an increase in prolactin secretion.

Acromegaly
Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s is used in the treatment of Acromegaly which is a condition characterized by an increase in the growth hormone secretion.

Parkinson's disease
Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s is used to control signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
When not to use?

Allergy
Not recommended in patients with known allergy to Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s or ergot alkaloids.

Breastfeeding
Not recommended in breastfeeding women due to the decrease in the milk production.

Hypotension
This medicine may alter the blood pressure, especially while increasing the dose, and increases the risk of orthostatic hypotension. Close monitoring of blood pressure is necessary. The dose should be reduced if the symptoms worsen.

WIthdrawal effects
This medicine should not be stopped immediately without informing the doctor as it may cause neuroleptic malignant syndrome-like symptoms like fever, muscular rigidity, altered mental status. It is advised to decrease the dose gradually based on the clinical condition.

Psychosis
This medicine is known to cause psychotic symptoms like hallucinations, confusion, anxiety, depression. It should be used with caution in patients with nervous system disorders. Close monitoring of symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts is necessary.

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

General Instructions
Take Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s as instructed by the doctor. Do not take in larger amounts than prescribed. Close monitoring of blood pressure is necessary while taking this medicine. This medicine is not recommended in breastfeeding patients because it decreases breast milk production.

what are the adverse effects of Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s?
Nausea, postural hypotension, dizziness, headache, vomiting, constipation, digital vasospasm, drowsiness, confusion, psychomotor excitation, hallucinations, dyskinesia, dry mouth, leg cramp. Retro-peritoneal fibrosis on long term therapy (discontinue if occurs).
What happens if I miss a dose of Brotin tablet 2.5 mg 3×10’s?
Parkinsonism: Adults: Week 1:1 mg-1.25 mg at bed time. Week 2: 2 mg-2.5 mg at bed time. Week 3: 2.5 mg twice daily. Week 4: 2.5 mg 3 times daily increased further at 3 to 14 day intervals in increments of 2.5 mg to 10-40 mg daily in three divided doses. All doses should be taken during meals. Children: Not recommended.
Endocrine based infertility: Adults: Initially 1 mg-1.25 mg at bed time. Titrate gradually at 2 to 3 days intervals to 7.5 mg daily in divided doses with meals; max 30 mg daily. Children: Not applicable.
Prevention of lactation: Adults: Initially 2.5 mg on day of delivery, then 2.5 mg twice daily with meals for 14 days. Children: Not applicable.
Suppression of lactation: Adults: Initially 2.5 mg on the first day increasing after two to three days to 2.5 mg twice daily with meals for 14 days. Children: Not applicable.
Hyperprolactinaemia: Adults: Initially 1 mg-1.25 mg at night. Titrate gradually at 2 to 3 days intervals to 7.5 mg daily in divided doses with meals; max 30 mg daily. Children: Not applicable.
Benign breast disease, mastalgia: Adults: Initially 1 mg-1.25 mg at night. Titrate gradually to 2.5 mg twice daily with meals. Children: Not applicable.
Adjunct in acromegaly, prolactinoma: Adults: Initially 1 mg-1.25 mg at night. Titrate gradually at 2 to 3 days intervals to 5 mg six hourly with meals. Children: Not applicable.
