  • Skin and Structure Infection

    This medicine is used in the treatment of Skin and Structure infection like cellulitis, wound infection and cutaneous abscess caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.

  • Pneumonia

    This medicine is used in the treatment of community acquired pneumonia which is a most common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.

    This medicine should be used with caution in patients with the liver injury. Close monitoring of liver function tests is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if the symptoms persist.

  • Use in children

    This medicine may cause permanent teeth discoloration, therefore not recommended for children less than 8 years of age.

  • Drug-resistance

    Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

How to use BTig Injection 50 mg 1 Vial

Administered by IV infusion over 30 to 60 min after dilution of the reconstituted solution in 100 mL of Dextrose 5% or NaCl 0.9 %.
Reconstitution: Reconstitute the vials with 5.3 mL of NaCl 0.9% or D5W. The concentration should not exceed 1 mg/mL. The solution should be yellow to orange.
Compatibility: Dextrose 5%, NaCl 0.9%.
Stability: Reconstituted vial at room temperature for upto 6 hours with an additional 18 hours after dilution in the infusion solution or 48 hours in refrigerator.

Gl disturbances, anorexia, dizziness, phlebitis, rash, headache, abscess, infections, raised ALT, AST, BUN, amylase, prolonged APTT/PT, raised INR, pruritus, inj site reactions, impaired healing, hypoglycaemia, hypoproteinaemia, increased LFTs, hepatic failure, pseudomembranous colitis and anaphylaxis.

What happens if I miss a dose of BTig Injection 50 mg 1 Vial?

Adults: By IV infusion, initially 100 mg then 50 mg every 12 hr for 5-14 days. Children: Not recommended.
