How to use Calcium Chloride Injection 10 Ampx10 mL

Rapid IV injection at a maximum rate of 50 mg/min. For IV infusion dilute to maximum concentration of 20 mg/mL and infuse over 1 hour or no greater than 45-90 mg/kg/hour (0.6-1.2 mEq/kg/hour). Do not use scalp vein or small hand or foot veins for IV administration. Not for endotracheal or IM or SC administration.

What happens if I miss a dose of Calcium Chloride Injection 10 Ampx10 mL?

Cardiac arrest in presence of hyperkalaemia or hypocalcaemia, magnesium toxicity, or calcium antagonist toxicity: Infants & Children: 20 mg/kg; may repeat in 10 min if necessary. Adults: 2-4 mg/kg; may repeat in 10 min if necessary.
Hypocalcaemia: Infants & Children: 10-20 mg/kg/dose; repeat every 4-6 hr if needed. Adults: 500 mg to 1 gm/dose; every 6 hr.
Hypocalcaemia secondary to citrated blood transfusion: Neonates: Give 0.45 mEq elemental calcium for each 100 mL citrated blood infused. Adults: 1.35 mEq elemental calcium for each 100 mL citrated blood transfused.
Tetany: Infants & Children: 10 mg/kg over 5-10 min. May repeat 6 hr or follow with an infusion with a max dose of 200 mg/kg/day. Adults: 1 gm over 10-30 min; may repeat after 6 hr.
