How it Works:

Cefixime, the active ingredient in Asert tablets, is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria. Cefixime exerts its bactericidal action by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located in the bacterial cell wall, thereby disrupting the formation of peptidoglycan, an essential component of the bacterial cell wall. This disruption weakens the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and ultimately, the death of the bacteria.
