    Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s is used in the treatment of Community-Acquired Pneumonia which is a most common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae.

    Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s is used in the treatment of bronchitis which is an inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and some Mycoplasma Pneumonia.

General Warnings
  • Tendinitis and tendon rupture

    Use of Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s will increase the risk to develop tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after treatment. It will affect the shoulder, hand, the back of your ankle, or other parts of your body. The risk is more if you are above 60 years of age and have a history of kidney, heart, or lung transplant and joint disease. You are also at high risk if you are on corticosteroids like dexamethasone, methylprednisolone or prednisone.

  • Drug-resistance

    Usage of Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

  • Alternative treatment

    Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s will increase the risk of developing serious side effects. It should reserved for use only if you have no alternative treatment options for acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis or uncomplicated cystitis.

  • Diarrhea

How to use Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s

IV: Administer by slow IV infusion over 60 min into a large vein to reduce the risk of venous irritation (burning, pain, erythema and swelling); final concentration for administration should not exceed 2 mg/mL.
Reconstitution: Injection, vial: May be diluted with NS, D5W, SWFI, D10W, D5¼NS, D5½ NS, LR.
Compatibility: Stable in D5¼NS, D5½NS, D5W, D10W, LR, NS.

Drug to Drug IV Compatibility: Amikacin, amiodarone, aztreonam, calcium gluconate, cisatracurium, digoxin, diltiazem, diphenhydramine, dobutamine, dopamine, fluconazole, gentamicin, hydromorphone, linezolid, lorazepam, metoclopramide, metronidazole, midazolam, milrinone, norepinephrine, ondansetron, ranitidine, tobramycin, vasopressin.
Drug to Drug IV Incompatibility: Acyclovir, aminophylline, ampicillin/sulbactam, azithromycin, cefepime, dexamethasone sodium phosphate, furosemide, heparin, hydrocortisone sodium succinate, lansoprazole, magnesium sulphate, methylprednisolone sodium succinate, pantoprazole, phenytoin, piperacillin/tazobactam, propofol, warfarin.

Nausea, diarrhoea, rash. Hypersensitivity/skin reactions; discontinue if occur. Very rarely, tendon inflammation and rupture, pseudomembranous colitis; discontinue if tendinitis or persistent diarrhoea develops. Injection: Local reaction.

What happens if I miss a dose of Clio tablet 500 mg 10’s?

ORAL: Adults: 250-750 mg bid usually for 1-2 wk depending on severity and response.
Lower RTI: Mild-Moderate: 500 mg bid x 1-2 wk. Severe: 750 mg bid or 500 mg t.i.d x 1-2 wk.
Bone Infection: Mild-Moderate: 500 mg bid x 4-6 wk. Severe: 750 mg bid x 4-6 wk.
Skin Infection: Mild-Moderate: 500 mg bid x 1-2 wk. Severe: 750 mg bid x 1-2 wk.
UTI: Acute Uncomplicated: 100 mg or 250 mg bid x 3 days. Mild/Moderate: 250 mg bid x 1-2 wk. Severe/Complicated: 500 mg bid x 1-2 wk.
Acute uncomplicated cystitis: 250-500 mg bid x 3 days.
Gonorrhoea, Inhalation anthrax: 500 mg bid x 60 days after confirmed or suspected exposure.
Children: Used only for established following indication and when no other safe alternative available.
Acute exacerbation of cystic fibrosis: Under 5 yr, not recommended; 5-17 yr, 20 mg/kg bid x 10-14 days; max 750 mg/dose.
Other severe infections 20 mg/kg bid; max 750 mg/dose.
Complicated UTI/Pyelonephritis: 1-17 yr: 10-20 mg/kg bid x 10-21 days. Max: 750 mg.
Inhalation anthrax: 10-15 mg/kg bid x 60 days after confirmed or suspected exposure, max 500 mg/dose.
INJECTION: Adults: 400 mg bid or tid times daily by IV infusion over 60 min x 5-14 days depending upon the severity of infection.
Lower RTI: 400 mg IV bid x 1-2 wk. Severe: 400 mg IV tid x 1-2 wk.
Bone Infection: Mild to moderate: 400 mg IV bid x 4-6 wk. Severe: 400 mg IV tid x 4-6 wk.
