Cycloserine Capsules (Cyclorin)
How it Works
Cycloserine, marketed under the brand name Cyclorin, is an antibiotic used to treat tuberculosis (TB) and certain other bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis in bacteria. Specifically, cycloserine targets and inhibits two enzymes, alanine racemase and D-alanine:D-alanine ligase, which are essential for the production of the bacterial cell wall. By blocking these enzymes, cycloserine prevents bacteria from forming a functional cell wall, which leads to bacterial cell death and helps to control the infection.
