How to use Efrome Injection 1 gm 1 Vial

By IV Injection: Dissolve the content of cefpirome 1 g vial in 10 mL sterile water for injection. Inject slowly over 3 to 5 min. By Short IV infusion: Dissolve the content of 1 g in 100 mL sterile water for injection and infuse over 20 to 30 min. Effervescence occurs on dissolution.
Compatibility: NaCl 0.9%, dextrose 5% plus NaCl 0.9%.
Stability: Reconstituted solution can be stored for up to 6 hours at room temperature and 24 hours in refrigerator (at 2-8° C) when prepared in water for injection BP.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, raised liver enzymes and creatinine, blood dyscrasias, injection site reactions, taste disturbance, hypersensitivity reactions. Rarely superinfections, pseudomembranous colitis, interstitial nephritis.

What happens if I miss a dose of Efrome Injection 1 gm 1 Vial?

Adults: 1-2 gm every 12 hr by IV bolus over 3-5 min or by IV infusion over 20-30 min. Children: Not recommended.
