How to use Haemic capsule 250 mg 10×10’s
IV injection or administer as IV continuous infusion, 25-50 mg/kg over 24 hours. Can be mixed with solutions for infusion such as NS or D5W.
Stability: Store at 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F).
UNLICENSED USE
Children: Injection/Infusion not recommended for children under 1 yr. Not recommended for reduction of blood loss during cardiac surgery.
Inhibition of fibrinolysis, hereditary angioedema: ORAL: 1 mth-1 yr, 15-25 mg/kg (max 1.5 gm) 2-3 times daily. INJECTION: By IV injection over at least 10 minutes, 1 mth-1 yr, 10 mg/kg (max 1 gm) 2-3 times daily. By continuous IV infusion, 1 mth-1 yr, 45 mg/kg over 24 hr.
Menorrhagia: ORAL: 12-18 yr, 1 gm 3 times daily for up to 4 days, max 4 gm daily (initiate when menstruation has started).
what are the adverse effects of Haemic capsule 250 mg 10×10’s?
Gastrointestinal disorders, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, hypotension, convulsions, rarely thromboembolic events, colour vision disturbances (discontinue); giddiness on rapid IV injection.
What happens if I miss a dose of Haemic capsule 250 mg 10×10’s?
Adults: ORAL: Local fibrinolysis: 15-25 mg/kg body weight two-three times daily.
Menorrhagia: Initiated when heavy bleeding started, 1-1.5 gm 3-4 times daily for 3-4 days.
Hereditary angioedema: 1-1.5 gm 2-3 times daily.
INJECTION: Local fibrinolysis: 0.5-1 gm by slow IV 3 times daily.
General fibrinolysis: 1 gm (or 15 mg/kg) every 6-8 hr.
Children: Injection/Infusion not recommended for children under 1 yr. Not recommended for reduction of blood loss during cardiac surgery. Inhibition of fibrinolysis, hereditary angioedema: ORAL: 1 mth-18 yr, 15-25 mg/kg (max 1.5 gm) 2-3 times daily. INJECTION: By IV injection over at least 10 minutes, 1-18 yr, 10 mg/kg (max 1 gm) 2-3 times daily. By continuous IV infusion, 1-18 yr, 45 mg/kg over 24 hr.
Prevention of excessive bleeding after dental procedures (e.g. in haemophilia): INJECTION: By IV injection pre-operatively, Child 6-18 yr, 10 mg/kg (max 1.5 gm). ORAL: Oral: Oral pre-operatively, 6-18 yr, 15-25 mg/kg (max 1.5 gm). Oral postoperatively, 6-18 yr, 15-25 mg/kg (max 1.5 gm) 2-3 times daily for up to 8 days.
