What is it prescribed for?

  • Refraction

    This medicine is used to dilate the pupil before an ophthalmic examination by the doctor. It is also used to dilate the pupil before and after certain surgical procedures of the eye.

  • Uveitis

    This medicine is used to relieve the swelling and redness of the middle layer of the eyes (uveitis).

  • Glaucoma

  • Driving or Operating machinery

    Use of this medicine may cause blurred vision in some patients. If you experience blurred vision during treatment with this medicine, it is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery until your vision is clear.

  • Photosensitivity of eyes

    Use of this medicine may make your eyes more sensitive to light. It is advised to protect your eyes from bright lights and use appropriate precautionary measures while going outdoors at daytime.

  • Use in elderly

    This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly patients since the likelihood of severe adverse effects is significantly high.

  • Use in children

    This medicine is not recommended for use in infants less than 3 months of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established. It should be used with caution in children less than 12 years of age and only under the supervision of your pediatrician.

  • Belladonna poisoning

    Use of this medicine in excess in pediatric patients and in certain individuals with a history of susceptibility to belladonna alkaloids (atropine, hyoscyamine, scopolamine, etc.) may cause systemic symptoms of HOMATROPINE 2% Eye Drops 15ml poisoning. Appropriate precautions should be taken to prevent swallowing of the medicine to reduce this risk.

  • Down's syndrome

    This medicine should be used with caution in patients with Down’s syndrome due to the increased risk of angle closure glaucoma. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

  • Keratoconus

    This medicine should be used with caution in patients with keratoconus (a condition where the cornea gets thin and bulges outside of the eye) due to the increased risk of fixed pupillary dilation. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Dosage

  • Missed Dose

    For Refraction: Since this medicine is usually given prior to eye procedures, the likelihood of missing a dose is very low. For Uveitis: Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not instill a double dose to make up for the missed one.

  • Overdose

    For Refraction: Since this medicine is administered in the clinic or hospital setting under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional, the likelihood of an overdose is very low. However, emergency medical treatment will be initiated by the doctor if an overdose is suspected. For Uveitis: Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
