What is it prescribed for?

  • Methotrexate rescue

    This medicine is used to reduce the toxicity caused due to the administration of methotrexate. It is also used to counteract the effects of an impaired methotrexate elimination or accidental overdosage.

  • Folic acid antagonist overdose

    This medicine is also used to replenish folic acid in the body and reduce the toxicity caused due to the administration of folic acid antagonists such as aminopterin, pyrimethamine, trimethoprim, triamterene, etc. It is also used to counteract the toxic effects caused due to an accidental overdose of these medicines.

  • Megaloblastic Anemia

    This medicine is used to treat megaloblastic anemia, a type of anemia with a lower than the normal number of red blood cells, caused by a deficiency of folic acid due to malnourishment, liver disease, pregnancy, or a reduced ability to absorb folic acid from the diet.

  • Colorectal Cancer

    This medicine is used along with 5-Fluorouracil to prolong survival of the patients suffering from advanced colorectal cancer.

What happens if I miss a dose of Leucocin Injection 15 mg 10 Vialx1 mL?

Antidote: To be adjusted to individual needs, provided that it corresponds to approximately 10 to 20 per cent of the methotrexate dose. See literature.
Megaloblastic anaemias: Treatment, initial course of 10 mg daily for 10 to 15 days, but 1 mg daily is probably adequate, subsequent therapy and dosage modified to the haematological response.
