How it works
LUXAVE 3.35g|5ml Suspension 60ml is a synthetic sugar and works by bringing water into the colon which makes the stool softer. It also draws ammonia from the blood into the colon which is then removed with feces.

What is it prescribed for?

Constipation
This medicine is used to treat constipation by increasing the water content in the stool.

Hepatic encephalopathy
This medicine is used to prevent the toxic effects of liver failure on the brain.
When not to use?

Galactosemia
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a genetic condition where the body is not able to break down sugar galactose properly.

Low galactose diet
This medicine should be administered with extreme caution in patients requiring a low galactose diet. This dietary change is usually recommended for patients having a rare genetic disorder known as galactosemia.

Diabetes
This medicine should be used with caution if you are diabetic. Appropriate dose adjustment and more frequent checking of the blood glucose levels is recommended while taking this medicine.

Electrolyte imbalance
Use of this medicine can cause an imbalance in the levels of potassium, magnesium, and other electrolytes in the body. It should be used with caution in children and patients suffering from any electrolyte imbalances.

This medicine is not recommended for use along with other laxatives especially when treating the symptoms of liver failure.

Contact your doctor if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Overdose symptoms may include confusion, increased heartbeat, severe thirst, increased urination, muscle weakness, and cramps.
