How it Works:
Mekinist contains the active ingredient Trametinib, which is a reversible inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) kinase (MEK). MEK is a key component of the MAPK signaling pathway, which regulates cell growth and proliferation. In certain types of cancer, such as melanoma with BRAF V600 mutations, this pathway becomes overactive, leading to uncontrolled cell growth. Trametinib works by inhibiting MEK, thereby slowing down or stopping the growth of cancer cells.

Indications:
Treatment of unresectable or metastatic melanoma with BRAF V600E or V600K mutations, in combination with a BRAF inhibitor.
Treatment of BRAF V600E-mutant, metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), in combination with dabrafenib.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Trametinib or any of the components of Mekinist.
Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/min).
Severe hepatic impairment.
