MEYLON 8.4% Injection 100sx25ml helps in neutralizing stomach acid during indigestion and heartburn. It acts as a buffer against an excess acidic condition of the body by raising blood pH. It increases the urinary pH by increasing the excretion of free bicarbonate ions in the urine.

Uses of MEYLON 8.4% Injection 100sx25ml

What is it prescribed for?

• Metabolic Acidosis

  This medicine is used in the treatment of an excess acidic condition of the body resulting from many clinical conditions such as severe dehydration, kidney insufficiency, severe diarrhea, heart problems, etc.

• Diabetic ketoacidosis

  This medicine is used in the treatment of a diabetes complication called Diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition of a buildup of acids (ketones) in the blood.

• Urine alkalinization

  This medicine is used for urine alkalinization which helps to increase excretion of toxic substances from the kidneys.

• Dyspepsia

  This medicine is used to treat indigestion.

• Hyperkalemia

  This medicine is used to correct the blood potassium levels in patients with hyperkalemia (Increased blood potassium levels).

• Asystole

  This medicine is used for the treatment of the most serious form of cardiac arrest where the electrical activity stops or pauses.

When not to use?

• Electrolytes and acid-base status

  It is recommended to monitor the electrolyte levels and acid-base status during and completion of therapy with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

• Sodium and water retention

  This medicine can induce sodium and water retention and hence should be used with extreme caution in patients with hypernatremia (increased blood sodium levels) or fluid retention due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of the clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

• Hypokalemia

  This medicine may lower the blood potassium levels in some patients. Close monitoring of the blood potassium levels is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

• Kidney impairment

  This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with kidney impairment due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of kidney function is recommended while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases.

• Stomach disorders

  This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with stomach disorders due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of the clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

• Liver impairment

  This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with liver impairment due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases.

• Other uses
