Pneumonia
Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s is used in the treatment of pneumonia which is common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.

Skin and Structure Infection
Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s is used in the treatment of Skin and Structure infection like cellulitis, wound infection and cutaneous abscess caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.

Intra-abdominal Infection
Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s is used in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections caused by Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella species.

Bronchitis
Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s is used in the treatment of bronchitis which is an inflammation in lungs caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and some Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s is used in the treatment of Plague which is a serious bacterial illness caused by Yersinia pestis.
When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s, other quinolones, or any other inactive ingredient present along with this medicine.

Tendinitis or tendon rupture
Avoid if you have a past history of tendinitis or tendon rupture after using Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s

Myasthenia gravis
Avoid if you have a past history of myasthenia gravis or family history of myasthenia gravis.

Severe Hepatic impairment
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh score: C) and in patients with transaminase levels greater than 5 times the upper limits of normal since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Tendinitis and tendon rupture
Use of Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s will increase the risk to develop tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after treatment. It will affect the shoulder, hand, the back of your ankle, or other parts of your body. The risk is more if you are above 60 years of age and have a history of kidney, heart, or lung transplant and joint disease. You are also at high risk if you are on corticosteroids like dexamethasone, methylprednisolone or prednisone.

Drug-resistance
Use of this Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s may rarely cause symptoms such as blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Driving or Operating machinery
Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s should be used with caution the patients with epilepsy or other CNS disorders. Discontinue the treatment if any symptoms appear until the exact cause is identified.

Pediatric use
The safety and effectiveness of Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s is not established in the children less than 18 years of age.

Clostridium difficle-associated diarrhea
Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in such cases.

Impaired liver function
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with known history of liver impairment due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Missed Dose
The missed dose should be taken as soon possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it's already time for your next scheduled dose.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of overdose.

If you suffer from CNS disorder and you take Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s, then you may experience tremors, restlessness, anxiety, confusion and hallucinations. Avoid consuming caffeine containing products like coffee, chocolates and energy drinks.

Avoid using Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s if you experience any chest discomfort. Regular cardiac function tests are to be performed if you have any heart disease (arrhythmia) or family history of heart disease.

Avoid taking Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s if you experience severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and blood in stools after taking the medicine. Inform the doctor if you have any gastrointestinal diseases. Drink adequate amount of water to prevent dehydration.

How to use Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s
By IV infusion over 60 min once every 24 hour. No dilution of the inj is necessary.
Compatibility: Stable in NS, D5W, D10W, LR.
Stability: Store at 25°C. Do not refrigerate.
what are the adverse effects of Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s?
Abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, GI upset, QT prolongation in patients with hypokalaemia, abnormal LFTs. Superinfections, pseudomembranous colitis. Infusion: Also infusion site reactions.
What happens if I miss a dose of Moxilis tablet 400 mg 5’s?
ORAL: Adults: 400 mg daily. Treatment duration: Chronic bronchitis, 5-10 days; sinusitis, 7 days; pneumonia, 10 days; pelvic inflammatory disease, 14 days. Children: Not recommended.
INJECTION: Adults: 400 mg by IV infusion over 60 min, once daily. Switch to oral treatment when clinically indicated. Total duration of treatment: Community acquired pneumonia: 7-14 days; Complicated skin and skin structure infections: 7-21 days. Children: Not recommended.
