How It Works

Nplate (Romiplostim) is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist used to treat thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) in certain conditions. Romiplostim mimics the action of thrombopoietin, a natural protein in the body that regulates platelet production. It binds to and activates the thrombopoietin receptor on megakaryocytes (the bone marrow cells that produce platelets), leading to increased production of platelets. This helps to increase the platelet count in patients, reducing the risk of bleeding.
