Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s is used in the treatment of inflammation and severe ulcers of the esophagus caused by chronic acidity.

Gastroesophagal Reflux Disease
Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s is used in the treatment of reflux disease, where acid from the stomach enters and irritates the food pipe (esophagus).

Helicobacter pylori Infection
Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s is used to treat Helicobacter Pylori infection in combination with other drugs.

Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s is used to treat a condition where an excessive amount of acid is produced in the stomach due to tumors in the small intestines.

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s or any other drug of the same group, i.e. Benzimidazoles.

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s or any other drug of the same group, i.e. benzimidazoles since it may cause severe allergic reactions. This risk is especially higher if the drug is administered intravenously.

Heartburn
Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s does not give instant relief from heartburn. Hence, it is not effective in treating acute heartburn symptoms.

Liver Disease
Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s should be used with caution in patients with active liver diseases or a history of liver diseases due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Bone Fractures

How to use Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s
IV: Infuse over 15 min at a rate not to exceed 3 mg/min. Use in-line filter (positioned below Y-site if use). Flush IV line with D5W, NS, or lactated Ringer’s injection before and after giving drug.
Reconstitution: Reconstitute each 40 mg vial with 10 mL 0.9% NaCl and dilute with 100 mL infusion fluid, give 40 mg over 15 min. Use within 12 hrs.
Compatibility: Intermittent infusion in 5% Glucose or 0.9% NaCl.
Y-site administration:
Drug to Drug IV Compatibility: Azithromycin, bumetanide, ceftriaxone, imipenem, phenylephrine, vasopressin.
Drug to Drug IV Incompatibility: Aztreonam, cefepime, ciprofloxacin, dexamethasone, diltiazem, diphenhydramine, dobutamine, esmolol, famotidine, fentanyl, fluconazole, labetalol, levofloxacin, linezolid, lorazepam, methylprednisolone, metronidazole, midazolam, ondansetron.
Stability: Store at 2°C-8°C. Solution may be stored up to 2 hours before further dilution and up to 22 hours before use.
what are the adverse effects of Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s?
Nausea, headache, diarrhoea, constipation, skin rashes, fundic gland polyps. Report of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus.
What happens if I miss a dose of Pantolive tablet 40 mg 14’s?
ORAL: Adults: Duodenal ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2 wk. Extend for a further 2 wk if not healed.
Gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 wk. Extend for a further 4 wk if not healed.
NSAID ulceration: 20 mg daily.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Initially 80 mg daily, adjust dose according to gastric acid secretion.
GERD: 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 2-4 wk. Extend for a further 4 wk if not healed. Maintenance, 20 mg daily; reassess risk/benefit if treatment exceeds 1 yr.
Control of recurring symptoms in healed reflux disease: 20 mg once daily when required.
Triple therapy vs H. Pylori: 40 mg twice daily with either clarithromycin 250 mg and metronidazole 400 mg both twice daily for one wk or clarithromycin 500 mg and amoxicillin 1 gm both twice daily for one wk.
Children: Not recommended.
INJECTION: Adults: Duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, reflux oesophagitis: IV: 1 vial/day.
Long-term management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & other pathological hypersecretory conditions: IV: Initially 80 mg/day. Thereafter, dosage can be titrated up or down as needed using measurements of gastric acid secretion as guide. For rapid acid control: Initially 2 x 80 mg IV to manage a decrease in acid output (lt;10 mEq/hr) within one hr. As soon as oral therapy is possible discontinue IV treatment.
Children: Not recommended.
