Hypersensitivity reactions

Discontinue the use of this medicine as per the doctor's instructions if severe diarrhea occurs after receiving this medicine. This medicine may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile, resulting in severe diarrhea.

Drug-resistance
Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing benefits and may even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug-resistant.

Kidney impairment
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an impaired kidney function due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Hypersensitivity reactions, including rash, urticaria, joint pains, angioedema, anaphylaxis, serum sickness-like reactions. Rarely, haemolytic anaemia, interstitial nephritis, blood dyscrasias, seizures, diarrhoea and antibiotic-associated colitis.

Lower Respiratory Infection: Adults & Children: gt; 12 yr: Pneumococcal: 250-500 mg every 6 hr until afebrile for 2 days.
Skin Infection: Adults & Children: gt;12 yr: 250-500 mg every 6-8 hr.
Upper Respiratory Infection: Adults & Children: gt;12 yr: Streptococcal: 125-500 mg every 6 hr for 10 days.
Fusospirochetosis: (Oropharynx) Adults & Children: gt;12 yr: 250-500 mg every 6-8 hr.
Pneumococcal: Adults & Children: gt;12 yr: 250-500 mg every 6 hr until afebrile for 2 days.
