How it Works:

Ponaxen (Ponatinib) is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) used in the treatment of certain types of leukemia, including chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). Ponatinib works by inhibiting the activity of multiple tyrosine kinases, including BCR-ABL, which is a fusion protein formed as a result of the Philadelphia chromosome translocation, commonly found in patients with CML and Ph+ ALL. BCR-ABL is a constitutively active tyrosine kinase that promotes uncontrolled proliferation and survival of leukemic cells. By inhibiting BCR-ABL and other tyrosine kinases, Ponaxen helps suppress the growth and survival of leukemic cells, leading to the induction of apoptosis (programmed cell death) and inhibition of disease progression.
