Uses of PROLYD 20mg Capsule 10s

What is it prescribed for?

• Bulimia

  This medicine is used in the treatment of Bulimia which is an excessive eating disorder caused by genetic and psychological factors. Some of the symptoms include living in fear of gaining weight and eating continuously until it feels uncomfortable.

• Depression

  This medicine is used in the treatment of depression which is a serious mood disorder caused by genetic and environmental factors. Feeling sad, irritable and devoid of energy are some the symptoms of depression.

• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  This medicine is used in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder which is an anxiety disorder caused by genetic and environmental factors. Some of the symptoms include aggression, suffering from a fear of contamination, and getting an obsessive urge to clean.

• Panic disorder

  This medicine is used in the treatment of the panic disorder. Sweating, breathing problem, weakness and numbness in hands are some of the symptoms of panic disorder.

• Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

  This medicine is used in the treatment of the premenstrual dysphoric disorder which is a condition characterized by symptoms such as irritability, tension, and depression before menstruation.

When not to use?

• Suicidal thoughts

  Use with caution in patients with major depressive disorder due to the increased risk of suicidal thoughts. Close monitoring of the patients for any change in behavior or mood is recommended. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

• Abnormal bleeding

  Use with caution in the patients who are on NSAIDs, aspirin, or warfarin due to an increase in the risk of excessive bleeding. Report any unusual bleeding or bruising to the doctor immediately. More frequent clinical monitoring, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

• Changes in weight

  This medicine is known to cause either weight loss or weight gain. Inform the doctor if you experience any changes in the body weight. Close monitoring of body weight is recommended during treatment with this medicine.

• Diabetes

  This medicine may alter the blood glucose levels in diabetic patients. Close monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended for such patients. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

• Discontinuation of treatment

  Do not stop the use of this medicine suddenly since this may cause withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, headache, anxiety, dizziness, and irritability. Gradual dose reduction should be made under your doctor's supervision.

• Impaired kidney function

  Use with caution in the patients with kidney diseases due to an increase in the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Frequent clinical monitoring, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

• Impaired liver function

  Use with caution in patients with liver function impairment due to an increase in the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Frequent clinical monitoring, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

• Hyponatremia

  This medicine may cause hyponatremia in some patients. This risk is especially high in the elderly population and in patients who are volume depleted or taking diuretics. Close monitoring of blood pressure and sodium levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Take this medicine with or without food. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts than advised. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor since this may cause withdrawal symptoms.
