How to use Rocaltrol capsule 0.5 mcg 3×10’s

Administer IV only.
Stability: Store at 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F). Discard unused portion.

UNLICENSED USE
Children: Vitamin D dependent rickets; hypophosphataemic rickets; persistent hypocalcaemia due to hypoparathyroidism or pseudo-hypoparathyroidism: 1 mth-12 yr, Initially 15 nanograms/kg (max 250 nanograms) once daily, increased if necessary in steps of 5 nanograms/kg daily (max 250 nanograms) every 2-4 wk; 12-18 yr, Initially 250 nanograms once daily increased if necessary in steps of 5 nanograms/kg daily (max 250 nanograms step) every 2-4 wk; usual dose 0.5-1 mcg daily.

what are the adverse effects of Rocaltrol capsule 0.5 mcg 3×10’s?

Symptoms of vit D toxicity. Hypercalcaemia. Rarely hypersensitivity. Headache, GI upset, rash, UTI.

What happens if I miss a dose of Rocaltrol capsule 0.5 mcg 3×10’s?

ORAL: Adults: 1-2 mcg daily increasing if necessary by increments of 0.25-0.5 mcg to max 2-3 mcg daily. Children: Not recommended.
INJECTION: IV: Adults: Initially 0.5 mcg three times weekly by IV Inj at the end dialysis. Titrate by 0.25 to 0.5 mcg at two to four wk intervals. Maintenance 0.5-3 mcg three times weekly. Children: Not recommended.
