Sivextro is mainly prescribed to manage acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs) caused by susceptible bacterial strains.

How It Works

Sivextro, containing tedizolid phosphate, belongs to the oxazolidinone class of antibiotics. It operates by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Tedizolid phosphate binds to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, which halts the formation of the initiation complex. Consequently, this prevents the assembly of the bacterial ribosome, leading to bacterial cell death.
