General Warnings
  • Tendinitis and tendon rupture

    Use of Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s will increase the risk to develop tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after treatment. It will affect the shoulder, hand, back of the ankle, or other parts of the body. The risk is more if you are above 60 years of age and have a history of kidney, heart, or lung transplant and joint disease. You are also at high risk if you are on corticosteroids like dexamethasone, methylprednisolone or prednisone.

  • Drug-resistance

    Usage of Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

  • Pediatric use

    The safety and effectiveness of Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s has not been established in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age.

  • Central nervous system effects

    Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s should be used with caution in patients suffering from epilepsy or other CNS disorders. Discontinue the treatment if any symptoms appear until the exact cause is identified.

  • Impaired liver function

    Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s should be used with caution in the patients with the history of liver injury due to the increase in the risk of liver enzymes.

  • Impaired kidney function

    Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s should be used with caution in the patients with kidney disease. Adequate hydration is maintained to prevent accumulation of the medicine. Dose of the medicine should be adjusted based on the CrCl.

what are the adverse effects of Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s?

GI disturbances. Dizziness, headache, tremor, confusion, convulsions, sleep disorders, rashes, photosensitivity, joint pain. Judgement and dexterity may be impaired. Transient increase in serum creatinine. Haematological, hepatic and renal disturbances. Tachycardia. Rarely, vasculitis, pseudomembranous colitis, haemorrhagic bullae, Stevens-Johnson and Lyell syndrome, visual disturbances, transient hearing loss, tenosynovitis, impaired taste, smell.

What happens if I miss a dose of Spactrum tablet 100 mg 10’s?

Adults: 400 mg on day 1, followed by 200 mg once daily for 9 days.
Typhoid & paratyphoid: 200-400 mg daily in two divided doses for 14 days. Children: Not recommended.
