  This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from cardiogenic shock, a condition where the heart is not able to pump blood in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of the body, due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.

• Acute myocardial infarction

  This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who have recently had a heart attack or are exposed to the risk factors of a heart attack due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.

• Antiemetic Neuroleptics

  This medicine is not recommended for use in a combination with any medicine belonging to the antiemetic and neuroleptic class such as prochlorperazine due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.

• Antipsychotic Neuroleptics

  This medicine is not recommended for use in a combination with any medicine belonging to the antipsychotic and neuroleptic class, except clozapine, due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

• Pregnancy

  This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

• Breast-feeding

  This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

• Other medicines

  This medicine may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

• Sleep disorders

  Use of this medicine may cause marked irregularities in the sleep pattern with sleeplessness and sudden onset of sleep. Patients and caretakers should be warned about this effect as a sudden onset of sleep might happen without awareness or warning signs. Hence, driving vehicles or operating machinery should be avoided during treatment with this medicine.

• Risk of falls

  This medicine is primarily used by the elderly population where the risk of a fall due to a sudden onset of sleep, confusion, or a sudden fall in blood pressure is significantly high. Patients and caretakers should be educated about the possible risks associated with the use of this medicine. An alternative treatment option may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

• Impulsive behaviour

  Use of this medicine may promote impulsive behaviors such as gambling, binge eating, compulsive buying, hypersexuality, etc in some patients. Patients and caretakers should be warned about these effects and the patients should be monitored closely for any change in mood or behavior. An alternative treatment option may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not take it in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Report any incidence of adverse effects to the doctor. Caretakers should be aware of the risk of falls, compulsive behavior, etc. while the patient is taking this medicine. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
