How it works
V-Derm 0.05% Oint 10 gm exerts its effect by binding to cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptors and subsequently activates glucocorticoid receptor mediated gene expression. This results in synthesis of certain anti-inflammatory proteins, while inhibiting the synthesis of certain inflammatory mediators.

What is it prescribed for?

Dermatitis
This medicine is used in the treatment of dermatitis which is an inflammation of the skin characterized by itching, rash, and redness of the skin.

Psoriasis
This medicine is used in the treatment of psoriasis which is an autoimmune disease characterized by itchy patches and red skin with silvery scales.

Lichen Planus
This medicine is used in the treatment of lichen planus which is an inflammation of the skin characterized by purplish, itchy, flat-topped bumps.
When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to clobetasol or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Growth retardation
This medicine may cause growth retardation in some children. Therefore, children receiving this medicine should be monitored closely with regard to growth parameters. The dose should be titrated to the minimum effective dose to reduce the chances of such side effects. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Cushing's syndrome
This medicine may cause hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression and causes Cushing's syndrome in patients receiving high doses for a prolonged period. Any symptoms of swelling of the face, increase in the blood glucose levels should be informed to the doctor.

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

what are the adverse effects of V-Derm 0.05% Oint 10 gm?
Burning, itching, irritation, erythema, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, pruritus, acneiform eruptions, hypo-pigmentation, peri-oral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, numbness of fingers, stinging and cracking/tightening of skin, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, malaria, telangiectasia, cushingoid changes, adrenal suppression, local skin reactions, acne, folliculitis. Hypersensitivity reactions incl contact dermatitis (discontinue).
What happens if I miss a dose of V-Derm 0.05% Oint 10 gm?
Adults: Apply sparingly once or twice daily for max four wk, then review. Children: Same as adult but review weekly.
