Myopathy and Rhabdomyolysis
This medicine may cause muscle breakdown and rhabdomyolysis in some patients, a condition which can be fatal. This may cause symptoms such as severe tiredness and weakness. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with active muscle disorders. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Alcohol consumption
This medicine may cause liver and kidney injuries in patients consuming alcohol very frequently and in large quantities. Hence, consumption of alcohol should be avoided during treatment with this medicine.

The safety and efficacy of use in children younger than 6 years have not been studied.

Missed Dose
The missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it is already time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

what are the adverse effects of Xstatin tablet 5 mg 20’s?
Headache, dizziness, GI upset, myalgia, aesthenia, diabetes. Reports of immune-mediated necrotising myopathy.
What happens if I miss a dose of Xstatin tablet 5 mg 20’s?
Adults: Initially 5-10 mg once daily. If necessary, increase to 20 mg once daily after 4 wk. Max: 40 mg once daily, but only in severe hypercholesterolaemia with high cardiovascular risk where 20 mg dose is inadequate and a routine follow-up is done. Elderly: Over 70 yr, initially 5 mg once daily.
Children: Under 10 yr, not recommended. Hyperlipidaemia including familial hypercholesterolaemia: 10-18 yr, initially 5 mg daily, increased if necessary at intervals of at least 4 wk to usual, max 20 mg once daily.
