  • Allergy

  • Impaired kidney function

    Use with caution if you have a preexisting kidney disease. Appropriate dose adjustments are to be made based on CrCl or eGFR.

  • Impaired liver function

    Xtab capsule 250 mg 2×6’s and other cephalosporins are reported to cause liver diseases like Hepatitis and Cholestatic jaundice. Use with caution if you have a risk of developing liver disease. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.

  • Drug- resistance

    Usage of Xtab capsule 250 mg 2×6’s without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

What happens if I miss a dose of Xtab capsule 250 mg 2×6’s?

Adults: Usually 1-2 gm daily in two to four divided doses. Children: Under 3 mth, 65.5-125 mg twice daily; 4 mth-2 yr, 250-500 mg daily; 3-6 yr, 1-2 gm daily. All in two to four divided doses.
Lower Respiratory Infection: Adults: Usual: 250 mg every 6 hr. Max: 4 gm/day. Children: Usual: 25-50 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
Upper Respiratory Infection: Adults: Usual: 250 mg every 6 hr.
Streptococcal Pharyngitis: Adults: 500 mg every 12 hr. Max: 4 gm/day. Children: gt;1 yr: Usual: 25-50 mg/kg/day given every 12 hr
Otitis Media: Children: 75-100 mg/kg/day given every 6 hr.
