Uses of Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial

What is it prescribed for?

• Bacterial Meningitis

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial is used in the treatment of meningitis, which is an inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria meningitidis.

• Bacterial Septicemia

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial is used in the treatment of septicemia which is an infection of the blood caused by Staphylococci and Streptococcus pyogenes.

• Intra-abdominal Infection

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial is used in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections caused by Helicobacter pylori, Staphylococci, and Streptococci.

• Pneumonia

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial is used in the treatment of pneumonia which is a common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae.

• Bone and joint infections

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial is used in the treatment of bone and joint infections like septic arthritis and osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococci and Streptococci species.

• Pyelonephriits

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial is used in the treatment of Pyelonephritis which is a type of kidney infection caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

When not to use?

• Allergy

  Avoid if you have a known allergy to Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial or Beta-lactam Antibiotics like penicillins and cephalosporins. Seek immediate medical attention if the patient experiences any allergic symptoms like rash, itching, nausea, vomiting and swelling of lips, hands or feet.

• Drug-resistance

  Usage of Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

• Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea

  Avoid if you experience severe diarrhea after receiving Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial . As antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora in the large intestine which promotes the growth of bacteria called clostridium difficile.

• Impaired kidney function

  Use with caution if you have a preexisting kidney disease. Appropriate dose adjustments are to be made based of CrCl or eGFR.

• Neurotoxicity

  Z.D 500mg Injection Per Vial may increase the risk of serious adverse effects like encephalopathy, seizures, and nonconvulsive status epilepticus. These reactions may occur in the patient with impaired kidney function with no proper dose adjustment.

Make sure that the medicine is dissolved properly. Do not take if any particulate matter is visible. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Do not stop taking before completion of course.
