When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s or any other fluoroquinolones.

Tendinitis or tendon rupture
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a past history of tendinitis or tendon rupture after using Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s or any other fluoroquinolones.

Myasthenia gravis
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a past history of myasthenia gravis or family history of myasthenia gravis (weakness and rapid tiring of muscles which are under voluntary control).

Tendinitis and Tendon ruputure
Use of Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s will increase the risk to develop tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after treatment. This may affect your shoulders, hands, ankles, or other parts of your body. You are at a higher risk if you are more than 60 years of age or if you have undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. You are also at a higher risk if you are on corticosteroids like dexamethasone, methylprednisolone, or prednisone.

Drug-resistance
Usage of Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Alternative treatment
Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s can be used to treat acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis or uncomplicated cystitis, but only as a last resort. This drug should be used only if you have no alternative treatment options for the above-mentioned conditions.

Photosensitivity
This medicine may make you more sensitive to sunlight or tanning lights. You are advised to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to avoid adverse reactions to sunlight during treatment with this medicine.

Driving or Operating machinery
Use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as blurred vision, confusion, dizziness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Diarrhea
Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in such cases.

Report any incidence of tremors, restlessness, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, etc., to the doctor on priority. It is advisable to avoid using caffeine-containing products while on therapy with fluoroquinolones.

Inform your doctor if you have any history of gastrointestinal diseases. Report any incidence of severe diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and blood in stools to the doctor immediately.

Report any incidence of discomfort in the chest, heart palpitations, etc., to the doctor on priority. How to use Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s
IV: Infuse IV solution over 60 min. Too rapid infusion can lead to hypotension. Avoid administration through an intravenous line with a solution containing multivalent cations (i.e., magnesium, calcium).
Compatibility: Stable in D5LR, D5NS, D5W, NS; incompatible with mannitol 20%, sodium bicarbonate 5%.
Y-site administration:
Drug to Drug IV Compatibility: Amikacin, aztreonam, bumetanide, calcium gluconate, cefepime, ceftriaxone, cimetidine, dexamethasone, diltiazem, diphenhydramine, dobutamine, dopamine, enalapril, epinephrine, esmolol, famotidine, fentanyl, fluconazole, gentamicin, hydrocortisone, hydromorphone, imipenem, labetalol, linezolid, magnesium sulphate, methylprednisolone, metoclopramide, metronidazole, midazolam, morphine, ondansetron, phenylephrine, tobramycin, vancomycin.
Drug to Drug IV Incompatibility: Acyclovir, alprostadil, amiodarone, azithromycin, cephazolin, furosemide, heparin, indomethacin, insulin regular, lansoprazole, nitroglycerin, sodium nitroprusside, pantoprazole, piperacillin/tazobactam, propofol, ranitidine.
Stability: Stable for 72 hours when diluted to 5 mg/mL in a compatible IV fluid. Store at room temperature. Stable for 14 days when stored under refrigeration. Stable for 6 months when frozen. Do not refreeze.
what are the adverse effects of Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s?
GI upset, raised liver enzymes, tendon disorders (discontinue), insomnia, headache, dizziness, anorexia, dysgeusia, dyspnoea, arthralgia, myalgia, tinnitus, asthenia, pyrexia, reports of visual disturbances, hepatic injury, severe skin disorders, peripheral neuropathy (discontinue).
What happens if I miss a dose of Zeblexin capsule 250 mg 10’s?
Lower Respiratory Infection: Adults: 500 mg orally or IV once daily for 7-14 days or 750 mg orally or IV once daily for 5 days.
Nosocomial Pneumonia: Adults: 750 mg orally or IV once daily for 7-14 days.
Upper Respiratory Infection: Sinusitis: Adults: 500 mg orally or IV once daily for 10-14 days or 750 mg orally or IV once daily for 5 days.
Skin Infection: Adults: Uncomplicated: 500 mg orally or IV once daily for 7-10 days. Complicated: 750 mg orally or IV once daily for 7-14 days.
Urinary Tract Infection: Adults: Complicated UTI/Acute Pyelonephritis: 250 mg orally or IV once daily for 10 days. Uncomplicated UTI: 250 mg orally or IV once daily for 3 days. Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis: 500 mg orally or IV once daily for 28 days.
Children: Not recommended.
