This medicine is used for the treatment of infections of the throat and airways leading to the lungs, namely tonsillitis and pharyngitis, caused by bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes.

This medicine is used in the treatment of otitis media (middle ear infection) caused by bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, staphylococci, Streptococcus pyogenes, etc.

Clostridium difficile-associated DiarrheaImpaired kidney function
Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in these cases.

Impaired kidney function
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of renal impairment due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Drug-resistance
Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Use of ZECEF 250mg Injection Vial is not recommended for infants less than 3 months of age.

Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction
This medicine may cause Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction in some patients when it is used for treating Lyme disease. This reaction is characterized by symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, dizziness, increased heart rate, etc. This reaction usually subsides on its own.
