How it works

Zoxi Injection 1 gm 1 Vial exert bactericidal activity by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis and inhibiting cross-linking of the peptidoglycan. They are also thought to play a role in the activation of bacterical cell autolysins which may contribute to bacterial cell lysis.

How to use Zoxi Injection 1 gm 1 Vial

IM: Inject deep IM into large muscle mass. IV: Inject direct IV over 3-5 min. Infuse intermittent infusion over 30 min.
Reconstitution: IV: Reconstitute with SWFI as follows: For 500 mg vial: Add 5 mL, 1 gm vial: Add 10 mL, 2 gm vial: Add 20 mL. Shake well. Dilute reconstituted solution further with 50-100 mL of a compatible solution, such as NS or D5W before administration. IM: Reconstitute with SWFI as follows: For 500 mg vial: Add 1.5 mL, 1 gm vial: Add 3 mL. 2 gm vial: Add 6 mL. Shake well. Divide 2 gm doses and administer in different sites.
Compatibility: Stable in D5¼NS, D5½NS, D5NS, D5W, D10W, LR, NS, sodium bicarbonate 5%.

Pain at inj site, hypersensitivity reactions. Gl disturbances, eosinophilia, neutropenia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, rise in liver enzymes and blood urea. Positive Coomb’s test.

What happens if I miss a dose of Zoxi Injection 1 gm 1 Vial?

Adults: IM/IV: 1-2 gm every 8-12 hr, up to 2 gm every 4 hr or 4 gm every 8 hr for life-threatening infection. Children: gt; 6 mth: 150-200 mg/kg/day divided every 6-8 hr; max 12 gm/day.
Bone Infection: IM/IV: Adults: 1-2 gm every 8-12 hr. Max: 6 gm/day. Children: gt; 6 mth: 50 mg/kg every 6-8 hr, not to exceed adult dose.
Meningitis/ Septicaemia: IV: Adults: 3-4 gm every 8 hr. Children: gt; 6 mth: 50 mg/kg every 6-8 hr, not to exceed adult dose.
