General Warnings
  • Gout flare

    Gout flares may occur after initiation of the treatment due to change in the serum uric acid levels. Discontinue the treatment until the symptoms completely subsided. Simultaneously gout flare prophylaxis with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or colchicine should be initiated for up to 6 months.

  • Cardiovascular events

    This medicine in not recommended in the patients with ischemic heart disease due to the risk of cardiovascular thromboembolic events like myocardial infarction, stroke.

  • Impaired liver function

    This medicine is known to cause liver failure. Obtain baseline of liver function tests before initiation of the treatment. The treatment should be discontinued if the alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is greater than 3 times the reference range.

  • Impaired kidney function

    This medicine should be used with caution in the patients with severe kidney injury (CrCl less than 30 ml/min).

  • Asymptomatic hyperuricemia

    This medicine is not recommended for use in the patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia.

Dosage
