Properties

Ebastine, the active ingredient of Ebofor, produces a strong and prolonged selective blocking of the peripheral H1 receptors for histamine. The duration of its action allows to administer Ebofor once daily. The drug is free from any anticholinergic activity. Since it has no access to central H1 receptors for histamine, it does not show sedative effects. It does not potentiate the effects of alcohol.

Ebofor tablets are available in blister pack of 10 tablets with 2 years expiry.

Ebofor tablet 10 mg 10’s related warnings

Pregnancy and lactation

Studies in rats and rabbits do not indicate any direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to the development of the embryo or foetus, or the course of gestation and pre and post-natal development. No Teratogenic effects have been Identified in animals. However, there are no well-controlled studies in pregnant women and reproductive studies are not always predictive of human response. Therefore Ebastine should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It is not known, whether Ebastine is excreted in human milk, therefore, Ebastine should not be used during lactation.

Use in children

This drug must not be administered to children under 2 years old, since safety has not been established in this age group.

TABLET: Adults: 10 mg daily.
SYRUP: Children: 6-11 yr, 5 mg daily; below 6 yr, not recommended.
There is no need for dose adjustment in patients with liver function disorders.
