Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea
Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhoea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of Enconmycin Injection 600 mg 1 Ampx2 mL in such cases.

Gasping syndrome
Benzyl alcohol which is an ingredient of the Enconmycin Injection 600 mg 1 Ampx2 mL injection has been associated with "Gasping Syndrome" in paediatrics patients, which is characterised by multi-system failure. The risk depends on the quantity administered and the liver function. Premature and low-birth-weight infants are at increased risk of developing the gasping syndrome.

Liver and kidney disease
Enconmycin Injection 600 mg 1 Ampx2 mL should be used with caution in patients with liver and kidney disease. The dose should be reduced to 25% to 30% of the normal dosage in severe kidney disease conditions (CrCl less than 10 mL/min). Close monitoring of kidney and liver function is necessary while receiving this medicine.

How to use Enconmycin Injection 600 mg 1 Ampx2 mL
IV: 1 gm Lincomycin diluted in not less than 100 mL of appropriate solution and infused over a period of not less than one hour.
Reconstitution: Dilute 600 mg dose in at least 100 mL D5W, D10W, NS, dextrose 5% in NS, or other compatible diluent. Dilute higher doses in 100 mL of a compatible diluent for each gm being given.
Compatibility: D5W D10W, D5NS, D10NS. Ringer’s sol. Incompatible with novobiocin and kanamycin.
Stability: Store at 20°C-25°C (68°F-77°F). Diluted lincomycin in an appropriate solution is physically compatible for 24 hours at room temperature unless otherwise indicated.

What happens if I miss a dose of Enconmycin Injection 600 mg 1 Ampx2 mL?
CAPSULE: Adults: 500 mg three or four times daily.
SYP/SUSP: Children: Under 1 mth, not recommended; 1-6 mth, 1.25-2.5 mL three times daily; 6 mth-2 yr, 2.5-5 mL three times daily; 3-9 yr; 2.5-5 mL four times daily; 10-12 yr, 5-10 mL four times daily.
INJECTION: Adults: 600 mg by IM inj 12-24 hrly or IV infusion 8-12 hrly. Children: Under 1 mth, not recommended; others, 10 mg/kg by IM inj 12-24 hrly; alternatively 10-20 mg/kg daily by IV infusion in 2 or 3 divided doses at 8-12 hr intervals.
