How to use Hyomide syrup 5 mg/5 mL 60 mL

For IM, IV or SC use.
Stability: Store at 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F). Protect from light.

UNLICENSED USE
Children: ORAL: Symptomatic relief of gastro-intestinal or genitourinary disorders characterised by smooth muscle spasm: 6-12 yr, 10 mg 3 times daily; 12-18 yr, 20mg 4 times daily.
Excessive respiratory secretions and bowel colic in palliative care: 1 mth-2 yr, 300-500 mcg/kg (max 5 mg) 3-4 times daily; 2-5 yr, 5 mg 3-4 times daily; 5-12 yr, 10mg 3-4 times daily; 12-18 yr, 10-20mg 3-4 times daily.
Children: INJECTION: By IM or IV injection. Excessive respiratory secretions and bowel colic in palliative care: 1 mth-4 yr, 300-500 mcg/kg (max 5 mg) 3-4 times daily; 5-12 yr, 5-10 mg 3-4 times daily; 12-18 yr, 10-20 mg 3-4 times daily.
Acute spasm, spasm in diagnostic procedures: 2-6 yr, 5 mg repeated after 30 minutes if necessary (may be repeated more frequently in endoscopy), max 15 mg daily; 6-12 yr, 5-10 mg repeated after 30 minutes if necessary (may be repeated more frequently in endoscopy), max 30mg daily; 12-18 yr, 20 mg repeated after 30 minutes if necessary (may be repeated more frequently in endoscopy), max 80 mg daily.

what are the adverse effects of Hyomide syrup 5 mg/5 mL 60 mL?

Constipation, transient bradycardia (followed by tachycardia, palpitation and arrhythmias), reduced bronchial secretions, urinary urgency and retention, dilatation of the pupils with loss of accommodation, photophobia, dry mouth, flushing and dryness of the skin. Side-effects that occur occasionally include confusion (particularly in the elderly), nausea, vomiting and giddiness. Very rarely, angle-closure glaucoma may occur.

What happens if I miss a dose of Hyomide syrup 5 mg/5 mL 60 mL?

INJECTION: Adults: 1 amp IM or IV. Acute spasm and spasm in diagnostic procedures: 20 mg repeated after 30 min if necessary (may be repeated more frequently in endoscopy), max 100 mg daily. Children: Not recommended.
ORAL: Adults: 10 mg three times daily. Children: Under 6 yr, not recommended. 6-12 yr, 5 mg three times daily.
TRANSDERMAL PATCH: Adults: 1 patch on hairless area of skin behind ear 5-6 hr before journey. If necessary, replace with new patch behind other ear after 72 hr. Children: Above 10 yr: Same as adults. Below 10 yr: Not recommended.
