How it works
LEUCOVORIN 50mg Injection 1s protects healthy cells from the harmful effects of anticancer drugs. It is an analog of folic acid and helps in the formation of red blood cells. It also increases the effect of certain anti-cancer medicines such as 5-fluorouracil.

This medicine is used to reduce the toxicity caused due to the administration of methotrexate. It is also used to counteract the effects of an impaired methotrexate elimination or accidental overdosage.

Folic acid antagonist overdose
This medicine is also used to replenish folic acid in the body and reduce the toxicity caused due to the administration of folic acid antagonists such as aminopterin, pyrimethamine, trimethoprim, triamterene, etc. It is also used to counteract the toxic effects caused due to an accidental overdose of these medicines.

Megaloblastic Anemia
This medicine is used to treat megaloblastic anemia, a type of anemia with a lower than the normal number of red blood cells, caused by a deficiency of folic acid due to malnourishment, liver disease, pregnancy, or a reduced ability to absorb folic acid from the diet.
