Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s is a drug that acts on an enzyme responsible for the production of cholesterol in the blood. Thus, the level of cholesterol produced in the blood gets reduced over time.

  • Liver disease

  • Pregnancy

    This medicine is not recommended for use in women who are or may become pregnant.

General Warnings
  • Cognitive impairment

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause forgetfulness, memory loss, and confusion in some patients. These symptoms usually disappear gradually once the use of the medicine is discontinued.

  • Increase in blood sugar levels

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause an increase in the blood glucose levels along with an increase in the Glycated Hemoglobin levels. It is recommended to closely monitor the blood glucose levels. Appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

  • Muscle degradation in elderly

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause muscle breakdown along with symptoms such as severe tiredness and weakness, especially in the elderly patients. Close monitoring of clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

  • Heavy alcohol consumption

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause liver and kidney related problems if you consume alcohol very frequently in large quantities while on treatment with this medicine.

  • Liver impairment

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause moderate to severe liver impairment. The risk of fatal liver failure is very high in patients with an active liver disease.

  • Rhabdomyolysis

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause a fatal condition where the muscles in the body are degraded and substances are released into the blood which could damage the kidneys as well.

  • Stroke

    Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s may cause damaging side effects if you have had a stroke in recent times or are recovering from it. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered in such cases under your doctor's supervision.

  • Missed Dose

    The missed dose can be taken as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dosage then the missed dose can be skipped.

  • Overdose

    It is recommended to discontinue the medication and contact your doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected.

Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s should be taken as instructed by the doctor. It can be taken with or without food. The quantity consumed should not be more or less than prescribed and the duration should be as instructed by the doctor. Any instance of side effect should be reported to the doctor.

what are the adverse effects of Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s?

GI upset, headache, myalgia, asthenia, insomnia, dizziness, paraesthesia, fatigue, myalgia, hypoaesthesia, arthralgia, chest and back pain, hyperglycaemia, nasopharyngitis, pharyngolaryngeal pain, epistaxis, pain in extremity, muscle spasms, joint swelling, abnormal LFTs, raised ceatine kinase levels. Elevated ALT and CPK levels. Reports of immune-mediated necrotising myopathy.

What happens if I miss a dose of Lipitor tablet 40 mg 10’s?

Adults: Initially 10 mg once daily. Increase as necessary at 4 wk intervals; max 80 mg once daily. Children: Under 10 yr, not recommended. Hyperlipidaemia including familial hypercholesterolaemia: 10-18 yr, initially 10 mg once daily, increased if necessary at intervals of at least 4 wk to usual max 20 mg once daily. Max 80 mg once daily in homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia.
