Santobrex 0.30% Eye Oint 3.5 gm injection is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the abdomen, brain and spinal cord, heart, bones, and joints.

Cystic fibrosis
Santobrex 0.30% Eye Oint 3.5 gm is used as an injection and an intranasal agent for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. The symptoms of this disease are clubbing of fingers, breathing difficulty, poor growth, frequent chest infection, poor weight gain, and coagulation disorder in a few patients, and infertility in males.

Drug resistance
Use of Santobrex 0.30% Eye Oint 3.5 gm without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Neuromuscular disorders
Santobrex 0.30% Eye Oint 3.5 gm is not recommended for use in patients with existing neuromuscular diseases like Parkinsonism or Myasthenia gravis since it may worsen the condition of the patient.

Impaired kidney function
Santobrex 0.30% Eye Oint 3.5 gm may increase the risk of kidney injury, especially when high doses are used for a prolonged period of time. Suitable dose adjustments should be made based on the creatinine clearance (CrCl).

Frequent monitoring of kidney function is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments should be made based on the clinical condition of the patient.

What happens if I miss a dose of Santobrex 0.30% Eye Oint 3.5 gm?
DROP: Adults & Children: 1 or 2 drops four hrly. Severe cases, increase to 2 drops every hr reducing prior to discontinuation.
OINTMENT: Adults & Children: Apply two or more times daily.
