What is it prescribed for?

Intraocular hypertension
This medicine is used for the treatment of patients suffering from intraocular hypertension to reduce the fluid pressure inside the eyes.

Open angle Glaucoma
This medicine is used to reduce the fluid pressure inside the eyes of patients suffering from open-angle glaucoma, a condition characterized by progressive damage to the optic nerve that may lead to vision loss.

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Velatan 0.01% Eye Drops 2.5 ml or any other inactive ingredients present along with this medicine.

Bacterial keratitis
If the ophthalmic solution of this medicine is contaminated by bacteria, it can lead to an infection of the cornea (bacterial keratitis). Patients are advised to take all hygienic precautions to ensure that the medicine is not contaminated.

Contact lens
This medicine is not recommended for use if you are wearing soft contact lenses in your eyes. The lens should be removed prior to administration of the eye drops and can be reinserted after 15 minutes of administration.

Eyelash changes and Pigmentation
Use of this medicine may cause some changes in eyelashes such as an increased length, thickness, pigmentation, the number of lashes or hairs, and misdirected growth of eyelashes. This medicine may also change the eye color by increasing the amount of brown pigment in the iris.

Use in pediatrics
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established. However, your doctor may prescribe this medicine if the benefits significantly outweigh the risks. In such a case, the patient should be monitored closely for any adverse effects and any unusual symptoms should be reported to the doctor promptly.

This medicine may cause blurred vision in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience this symptom during treatment with this medicine.

what are the adverse effects of Velatan 0.01% Eye Drops 2.5 ml?
Darkening of mixed coloured irides; inform patient. Darker, longer or thicker lashes. Blurred vision, conjunctival hyperaemia, foreign body sensation, transient punctate epithelial erosion. Rarely, macular oedema, iritis, uveitis.
What happens if I miss a dose of Velatan 0.01% Eye Drops 2.5 ml?
Adults: 1 drop in affected eye(s) once daily, preferably in the evening. Children: Not recommended.
