Uses of AZITHROSAF 200mg|5ml Suspension 15ml

What is it prescribed for?

• Community acquired pneumonia

  This medicine is used in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia which is the most common type of lung infection caused by bacteria.

• Ear Infection (Otitis Media)

  This medicine is used in the treatment of Otitis Media which is an infection of the middle ear with symptoms such as a headache, ear pain, ringing in the ears, loss of balance, etc.

• Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

  This medicine is used to treat a sore throat or Pharyngitis (an inflammation of the throat caused by bacteria or smoking). The most common symptoms of this condition include a cough, runny nose, difficulty in swallowing, fever with chills, etc.

• Skin and soft tissue infections

  This medicine is used in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections characterized by fever with chills, redness around hair follicles, yellowish rash, muscle pain, etc.

• Cat Scratch Disease

  This medicine is used in the treatment of Cat Scratch Disease, which is an infection caused by the bacterium Bartonella henselae through the bite or scratch of a cat. It occurs within 1 to 2 weeks after the bite. This condition may be characterized by swollen lymph nodes near the site of the bite or scratch or most commonly on the neck.

When not to use?

• Myasthenia Gravis

  This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a history of myasthenia gravis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Any unusual symptoms should be reported to the doctor on priority. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered based on the clinical condition.

• QT Prolongation

  This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of arrhythmias, heart diseases, and patients who are on medicines that prolong QT intervals such as psychiatric drugs and anti-arrhythmic drugs due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered based on the clinical condition.

• Diarrhea

  Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

• Drug resistance

  Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

• Driving or Operating machinery

  Use of this medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Take/Administer this medicine with or without food. Do not consume/administer in larger or smaller amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
